Posted January 26, 2012 IRVINE, CALIF. (Jan. 26, 1:10 p.m. ET) -- In a synergistic move, the parent firm of high-purity plastics specialist Beco Manufacturing acquired Teqcom Industries Inc., a maker of fluoropolymer fluid and gas handling components in Santa Ana, Calif.
The parent company, International Polymer Solutions Inc., now operates Beco and Teqcom as product brands for a broader market. It plans to consolidate operations in the 22,000-square-foot IPS headquarters facility in Irvine, Calif.
The acquisition adds about 15 employees to IPS, bringing its total to 50.
A partnership of Lawrence Washburn, John Tonkinson and John Bryant agreed to the sale of the Teqcom assets effective Dec. 31. Each will continue in a consulting role. Terms were not disclosed.
“There is a considerable amount of overlap which is what makes the deal so attractive,” said Jonathan Gibney, IPS director of marketing and sales. “We are able to streamline many facets of front-end and back-end operations.”
Laboratories, semiconductor makers and food and chemical processors use Teqcom high-purity flow control products, mostly fabricated of polytretrafluoroethylene, for transporting ultrapure and difficult-to-handle media.
Teqcom products include fittings; tubing; solenoid, pneumatic, and manual valves; spray guns for deionized water and nitrogen applications; and custom-configured components and multi-valve manifolds.
IPS owners acquired Beco in September 2010 from sole owner Jerry Costello.
Beco stocks about 10,000 flow-control products and fabricates plastic-cabinet platforms in which customers install plumbing and other systems for chemical processing. |
